It s hard to believe that Evan is almost 11 weeks old already! It seems like just yesterday Matt and I were trying everything possible to get him to come out! He has been doing very well for us. He has started to “talk” to us and make all kinds of noises. He also likes to make lots of different faces, which I make back at him, and then he gives me a look like I am crazy or something!

I am happy to say that he is sleeping through the night! I think we have been pretty lucky with the amount of sleep we have been getting. We had a couple rough nights the first two weeks, but after that he started doing much better. He used to wake up twice a night to eat, but then he would go right back to sleep. Now he is typically sleeping for at least 8 hours. The past 2 nights he has slept for 9 and a half hours straight! Let me tell you, this is great! I can get a little grumpy when I dont get sleep, so 8+ hours is wonderful! We have moved him into his crib in his nursery and he sleeps very well in there. He even puts himself to sleep! I swaddle him, lay him down, and he goes to sleep on his own (sometimes with a little bit of fussing, but not usually). It is so nice not to have to rock him to sleep every night! I am hoping that he keeps sleeping this well once I go back to work. Speaking of which, I start back to work on Monday. I work 2 days and then I am off for Thanksgiving break. Evan will be starting at daycare. He had a trial day on Wednesday when he spent about 5 hours there. They told us that he did really well, whcih made me feel a little better. It is not easy at all, but I am hoping it gets easier.

He has also become quite the little piggy! He is eating a lot more now, but we are hoping that helps him to put on a little more weight. He is still a small baby, but he is happy and healthy and that is what is important!!

So Evan was a little bit fussy the other day so I was walking him around the house trying to get him to calm down. I was doing something and realized that he was suddenly quiet. When I looked down he had his thumb in his mouth and was all content. I am pretty sure he found it on accident, but thats ok.

Evan had his 2 month appointment with the pediatrician yesterday. He is doing very well! He weighed in at 10 lbs 2oz and was 22.75 inches long. He is in the 50th percentile for his length and the 20th percentile for his weight. The doctor said that his weight is proportional to his height so there is nothing to worry about. She said that he might just be a smaller baby. So as long as he is gaining wieght and he stays proprotional then there is nothing to worry about. He also had his first round of shots yesterday. To say the least, he did not like it very much at all! He screamed like we have never heard him scream before, but was all better after mommy held him for a few minutes. He will have more shots at his next 2 appointments. We were very happy to get a clean bill of health!

For the most part, Evan is a very happy baby. This week, he really started smiling for us. He does it several times a day now and it is so great! This is the best picture that we could get so far. We will post more when we can. We arent sure if he is smiling because daddy is playing with him or because he is having fun in his new bouncy seat (thanks Michelle, Elijah, and Devaughn!) He will sit in his bouncy seat for about an hour or so making noises and kicking his feet to make himself bounce! He just loves it!

Evan’s little friend Aydin (Travis and Fallon’s baby) came to our Halloween party last night. We tried to get some pictures, but Aydin kept rolling over into Evan’s face. It was adorable.  Here is one that we got, even though Evan blends in with our couch.

We had a halloween party at our house last night. I always make Matt do the couples costumes (prince and princess, bacon and eggs, etc.) and he is such a good sport about it. This year we did a family theme with Curious George, The Man in the Yellow Hat, and the banana.
