We bought new bikes, helmets, and even a bike trailer for Evan this summer. There are several trails around us that we can ride on and there is also the rails to trails. We went out for the first time on Saturday morning and had a great ride. Evan really seemed to enjoy riding, even though he fell asleep. (Yes I know babies under one year aren’t supposed to ride in the trailers, but he is just fine in there) Oh an by the way, we do have a helmet for Evan to wear, but he REFUSED to wear it. Matt and I both tried and we could not get in on him for anything. Mommy will just have to be extra careful when I am pulling him! Here is our bike set up, then a before and after picture of Evan.

Evan’s summer swim lessons have started! He goes to the Y every Wednesday evening for a 30 minute lesson. He had a lot of fun this first time and made lots of new friends! We are working on learning to kick and just get comfortable with the water. He did pretty well his first night, even though he didnt really understand the kicking. He likes when mommy takes him around the pool though!

Here is Evan and his daddy on Father’s Day! Part of Matt’s Father’s Day present is a mini-scrapbook. I am going to take a picture of him with Evan each year on Father’s Day and add it to the scrapbook.  This is the first picture!

It has been very warm here in PA, and Matt enjoys freezie pops when it gets hot. He decided to let Evan lick the end of it to get a taste. Well Evan bit off a huge chunk of it instead. The first picture is Evan biting off the chunk, and the second picture is him sucking on it and waiting for it to melt in his mouth!

Evan’s Great Uncle Rick has a huge dog named Smokey. I can’t remember what breed he is, but he is similar to a Great Dane. As soon as we pulle dup to the house, Smokey jumped in the back seat of my car and started licking Evan like crazy. Evan must have him because he was full of giggles and laughs! I tried to get a good picture of them playing together, but this was the best that I could do. Evan loved playing wtih Smokey, and Smokey was very good with him.

Evan and I went to NY for a few days to spend some time with our families. He saw lots and lots of people, and had a great week. He saw Grandma and Grandpa T., Great Uncle Ralph and Great Aunt Rose, Aunt Tereasa, Grandpa L., Grandma L., Uncle Mike, Uncle Matt, Great Grandpa, Great Uncle Rick, Molly, Matt, and Mae (I hope I didnt forget anyone!). Below are a few pictures. The first one is Evan playing at Grandma and Grandpa T’s house, then Evan in the pool at Grandpa l’s house (it was really cold at first and he wasn’t too happy). Then there is Evan playing at Grandpa L’s house.

Evan was having a great time playing the other day! He has found his toys and knows exactly where to go to get them. We usually try to pull out only a few toys at a time, but he had a different idea this day! He coudn’t be happier!

A freind of mine from work knows how much I like chocolate, so he gave me this 5lb chocolate bar as a thank you for my help this school year. The candy bar is almost as big as Evan is! A big thank you to all of our friends who helped us to start to eat it!

We went to the pediatrician today for Evan’s 9 month appointment. He weighed in at a whopping 18 lbs and 12 ounces (17th percentile). He grew 3 inches in the last 3 months and is now 30 inches long (90th percentile).  I call him my little slim jim because he is long and skinny! The doctor was not concerned about his weight at all. At the 9 month appointment they also do a heel stick to check the iron level. Evan’s level came back great, so we can now start to transition him from formula to whole milk. She said that by the time he is a year in September, he should be on milk and weaned from the bottle. So that is our goal for the summer! Everything else looked great and he is doing very well. She said it was very likely that he is going to be an early walker, and be walking before his 12 month appointment. We are very excited for him to start walking, but realize that will bring whole new set of challenges!

Evan turned 9 months old on Monday! We have our appointment with the pediatrician this afternoon so I will post his updated measurements later tonight. Overall he is doing very well. He has 4 teeth now, and two more that he has been working on. He has been eating much better lately so hopefully he is putting on some weight. We are getting ready to transition him to his new car seat. He is getting way to heavy to carry around in his infant carier! Evan and mommy are officially on summer vacation now!! Woo hoo!! We have lots of playdates, day trips, vacations, swimming lessons and other adventures planned, so we will post pictures when we can! Here is his 9 month picture! He was a little squirmy that morning, so its the best that I could do :-)
